Judging Procedure

Round 1

All dogs will be judged by either Judge Janet Embry or Judge Fred Hyer. They will select the Best of Breed Altered Dog for all of the breeds in their group assignment. Best of Breed winners will be asked to fill out a Biography form for their dog that will be used should they make it to the final round. Judge Assignments for Breed Groups will be made following the close of registration.

Round 2

Group Judging. The winning dogs from each breed will advance to the group round to be judged by the same judge that awarded their Best of Breed. From those dogs, the judge will select up to four finalists in each group, in no particular order, to move on to the semi-final round. If there is a group that does not contain 4 dogs, or, if the judge chooses not to select 4 dogs from a particular group, then the remaining spots will be split equally among the other groups in that bracket to move ahead to the semi-final round.

Round 3 - Semi-Finals

Sweet Sixteen - The top four finishers in each of the round 2 group judging will move on to this coveted round of elite altered dogs. Judge Embry and Judge Hyer will switch group assignments so the 16 will be judged with fresh eyes. From each of these two groups, the judge will select five dogs, in no particular order, to advance to our finals round. These dogs will be the 2025 National Altered Dog Invitational Top Ten.

Round 4 - Finals

A Three Judge Panel composed of Ms. Carrianna Glenn, Mr. Richard "Todd" Jackson, and Mr. Gregg Kantak will evaluate and rank the top ten dogs in our final round of judging. All dogs in the top ten will receive a commerative pin and certificate honoring their achievement and placement status, they will be honored on our social media pages and other UKC social media outlets, and one dog will be crowned The National Altered Dog Best In Show and receive a $1,000 dollar cash prize!
